General Knowledge Modules

LSA, FFE & Emergencies (GK008)

Description

This module breaks down the life-saving appliances, fire-fighting equipment and emergency response knowledge required to keep your vessel safe. It is designed to give you a clear and practical understanding of the equipment vessels are required to carry, how it is used, how it is maintained and how it fits into real emergency response situations.

It examines the key requirements for life-saving appliances, fire detection and fire-fighting systems, emergency organisation, drills, muster arrangements and response procedures for scenarios such as fire, collision, flooding, grounding, man overboard and abandon ship. By the end of the module, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge to explain how vessels prepare for and respond to emergencies safely and effectively, in line with international regulations, onboard procedures and industry best practice.
