Created in partnership with the Marine Society, our Bridge Equipment module gives you a clear, practical understanding of the key navigation equipment found on modern bridges, including ECDIS, radar, ARPA, GNSS, AIS, compasses, autopilots, logs, echo sounders and other ancillary systems.
The course explains how each system works, what information it provides, its limitations, common sources of error and how it should be used safely. Each lesson ends with extensive flash card questions, giving you the chance to test yourself as you go and identify any gaps in your understanding.
Regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current guidance and industry practice, the course also includes links to useful external resources, including relevant MCA Marine Notices, IMO Resolutions and other sources of industry best practice. This helps you connect the course content with the source material behind it.
The WhitehorseAI version adds podcast-style audio content for flexible listening, plus the WhitehorseAI Personal Tutor - a custom ChatGPT-powered tutor trained on our eLearning materials to help answer questions, explain topics and test your understanding as you study.
